Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy (pte)

A pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) is a highly specialized open-heart surgical procedure performed to remove chronic, organized blood clots and scar tissue from the pulmonary arteries. It is most commonly used to treat Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension, a condition caused by unresolved pulmonary emboli that obstruct blood flow through the lungs.

Inclusions

The Bundled Rate plus Outlier Per Diems includes:

1. Those comprehensive facility services, supplies, and equipment necessary to perform the Bundled Procedure and rendered by PROVIDER. 2. Those professional services necessary to perform the Bundled Procedure and rendered by a Physician. 3. Payor shall reimburse Group at Percent 225% of the most current Medicare Fee Schedule for Los Angeles County for non-bundled professional services. 4. Payer shall reimburse Group at 80% of Billed Charges for Unlisted Procedures re-portable by Medicare for non-bundled services. 5. Anesthesia services shall be paid at $70 per ASA unit for non-bundled services. The Bundled Rate Period covers the 1 day(s) prior to the procedure for the scheduled Accarent Procedure and up to 7 inpatient days in the hospital. Should the length of stay exceed 7 inpatient days, then per diem outlier payments will be applicable for each subsequent inpatient day. The bundled rate period ends at discharge.

Exclusions

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) related services are not included in the bundled rate. ECMO related charges will be reimbursed according to the fee for service rate for both facility and professional services.

Candidacy

Candidacy for the bundled procedure will be determined by the Provider.
