Autologous Tandem or Sequential Bone Marrow Transplant, Ped
A procedure to treat childhood cancers. The procedure involves the infusion of the patient's own blood forming stem cells, to produce new blood cells and generate new marrow. The tandem or sequential transplant is essentially two autologous transplants in succession within a 6 month period where enough cells are harvested for both transplant events. Candidacy for tandem or sequential procedure is based on each patient's unique clinical pathway in conjunction with the recommendations by their care team.
